Body Warsh

I'd like to just point out that the "warsh" in the title is a shout out to my Grandma, who, despite her 40 plus years in California, holds on to some weird southern pronunciations. Warsh? Really? Clearly, there is no "r" in wash. She also says "ruint" instead of "ruined." It's both baffling and totally endearing.

On with the show!

Body wash is one of those products that can end up costing way more than it's seemingly worth. It's also one of those things that most women have multiples of in their shower. Is it the scent? Is it the promises printed on the bottle of younger, softer skin? Is it just that we get bored with one bottle long before it's finished? Hold up, when did this blog turn into the opening sequence of Sex and the City? I'd better stop asking questions before I start equating body washes to men and relationships.

I don't tend to like body washes with too heavy a fragrance. If the body wash has a strong smell that lingers, it mixes with your perfume and you end up smellin' kinda funky. So your only option is to go with one of those body wash/lotion/spray sets like they sell at Victoria's Secret. Then, of course, you end up smelling like a teenage hooker. I had a roommate that was obsessed with the "LoveSpell" line. Now every time I smell it, I sort of want to barf.
That's why I love this stuff:
St. Ives Mineral Therapy

It's super rich and leaves your skin really clean and soft. At just about $5 for an 18oz bottle, it's a terrific bargain.

I gave up bar soap several years ago because it dried out my skin and made it feel sorta scaly and gross. But on a recent trip to Target, I bought a trial size of Dove Beauty Bar

Yeah, I pretty much love it. The scent is so clean and fresh and no body wash that I've tried so far makes my skin as soft. The softness lasts all day. Did I mention that the trial size was $1?? Awesome.

Now, every so often, I do crave a bit of scent. One of my all time favorite smells EVER is the Satsuma line at Body Shop. Seriously, I'm obsessed with the smell of this stuff to the point that I have to rush in to the store whenever I pass by and take a good, long whiff of it. I'd love to own it, but it's just too pricey. When I found the Every Man Jack Citrus Scrub I was pretty well stoked.

This stuff smells EXACTLY like the Satsuma line. For reals. It's also got some little rough bits in it to help slough off dry skin (particularly good for knees and elbows.) Though this is a product marketed towards men, I think the scent is far more appropriate for a chick. It's priced at just about $5 and it makes my mornings just a leeetle more bearable.

Whew. This post was a bit long and rambly wasn't it? I'm going to blame it on the fact that there's a new issue of Domino Magazine sitting right in front of me, begging to be tabbed all over the place.
